Arkendrosian Magic

The Flow

The Colleges of Magic hypothesize three primal forces of the universe. That which we know as magic, is known to this hypothesis as "The Flow" but it is believed to be more complex than that. The Flow is present in the gods and in existence itself. It moves through all things and can be harnessed as magic.

Arcane

Arcane magic is magic that is drawn directly from the source, drawn from "Learned Magic," and or, through the filtering of "The Galaxies" (A set of artifacts placed in the Chamber of the Hearth to filter and manage "The Flow."

Divine

Divine magic is magic which is bestowed upon the faithful of the gods and it comes directly from them yet their magic is also one with "The Flow."

The Heart of Arkendrose

The Heart of Arkendrose is an all-powerful-divine artifact which was created by the "Divine Spirits" of Arkendrose to store their power. Through it, originally, "The Flow" was focused through "The Galaxies" and then distributed throughout Arkendrose to all things.

Learned Magic and the Colleges of Magic

Learned Magic is the magic as learned in Arkendrose which follows a refined and restricted path. They are "Formed Spells" which one acquires as they deepen their connection to "The Flow." Learned magic was first formed by "The Galaxies" but those artifacts have since been removed from their chamber causing magic in Arkendrose to destabilize. To solve this issue, the Colleges of Magic studied "The Flow" and developed means of producing "Learned Magic."

The Colleges of Magic

The Colleges of Magic have existed for a very long time, having been created at least one thousand years ago after "The Great Boulder Run" and some before that time. They seek to understand and teach the use of magic yet they also serve to meddle in how it functions. Each school is bound to a Totem save for one which seeks to offer some of all Totems yet does not dive as deeply into them.

Totems

Totems, or colors, are various shades of magic as it is known in Arkendrose. These Totems are as follows:

White Totem

Blue Totem

Green Totem

Yellow Totem

Red Totem

Black Totem

Cultural and Regional Magics

While "Learned Magic" has been refined and altered by the Colleges of Magic and the Gods themselves through "The Galaxies," "The Flow" is everywhere and moves through all things. This means it can manifest and be harnessed in other ways. Though the Colleges seek to prevent this considering it a perversion of magic, magic has existed in other forms than the established norm since before recorded history.
